A former student of the École Normale Supérieure Lettres et Sciences Humaines (ENS Lyon), Julie Cheminaud is a lecturer at Sorbonne University since 2016. She was also a resident at the Académie de France in Rome - Villa Médicis in the Theories and History of Art section (2015-2016).

Her research focuses mainly on the relationship between art and medicine: after a thesis on the physiology of art in the 19th century (Les Évadés de la médecine, Vrin, 2018), she is writing an essay on Stendhal's syndrome, and is preparing, in co-edition with Claire Crignon, a multidisciplinary work on the Dupuytren collection.
